November 2024

Well, hello there! The good news for today is that Welcoming Words can create an aura of positive influence in your life. An aura that can leave a sweet, lingering impression of something we long to embrace and encourage others with.

Today’s Focus: According to Webster’s Dictionary, “‘aura’ can be a subtle sensory stimulus or a distinctive atmosphere surrounding a given source.”           For purposes of discussion this month, we will be looking at how our words and actions can become the atmosphere of welcome, which then creates a special sense of thanksgiving and appreciation to influence the people we encounter.

Each day brings new opportunities. Something I am learning to do each morning is pray for the divine appointments and the divine interruptions the Lord has prepared for me that day. You might be wondering why- appointments and interruptions? These can be very ordinary things. However, when we look forward to encountering opportunities wherever we are, we can be blessed in the most amazing ways.

Application: In Jeremiah 33:3 NAS, we are directed, “Call unto me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

To call out to our sovereign creator, God, is a powerful thing. An ordinary moment of delight or distress can change our perspective and move us toward a benefit or blessing we never knew was before us. Add in the fact that this may not be about us at all. Sometimes, we have the honor of being used in the life of another person who is broken or in desperate need. We can be the answer to another fellow human being, or they may help us out of our dilemma.

Why it matters:  Taking our eyes off ourselves brings the chance for us to serve another person and begin the process of being crushed so the fragrance of our life is released. Crushing can produce a bitter stench or a wafting aura of encouragement and genuine care. We may be challenged as we begin this new activity. On the recommendation of a wise friend, I was admonished to “give thanks” in all things that come along. Appointments or interruptions.

An important example to remember comes from John 11:41NASB: Jesus said to the Father, “Lord, I thank You that You have heard me.” This is another example of faith he gave us so that we could be his disciples and bear witness to a good father.

As we become willing to be willing, divine appointments and divine interruptions can allow the aura of influence to flow out and around those we touch and are touched by. Look forward to daily encounters that allow the aura of positive influence to enrich your life and service.
